Tomaz Mro is an independent illustrator based in United Kingdom. He specifically specializes in creating etheral portraits with a haunting mood and atmosphere, which he often is exploring different emotions and expressions within the pieces of art he creates. In addition to watercolours, he also works in many other traditional mediums such as
gouache, graphite and ink and enjoys experimenting by combining digital adjustments with some traditional illustrations. Many of my works are highly influenced by graphic design and fashion. When coming across his page on instagram, I was intrigued by the way he drew his artworks and the way he approached them. However, there was one that grabbed my attention right away which was one where the heads of two individuals are morphed together. This immediately gave me an idea as to how I would approach my next project. I knew that I wanted to show how a person changes over time and I knew just who I wanted to paint. I wanted to paint someone who showed me how to view myself in different light and how I could improve myself as a person. I wanted to do the same thing Tomaz had done in this drawing which was morph two individuals together, but with this painting I wanted it to be an image of Reece when I first knew about him and now. I wanted to display how much he has a changed over the years and how he has impacted me. |
Ideas/Concepts:
- contrasting colors in the background - place clouds in the background - use gold within the piece [maybe gold paint? or use metal leaf?]; this would help create contrast in the materials used in the piece - combine both ideas of the clouds and using metal leaf in this portrait |
- I want contrast in the piece
- clouds meant to represent
|
- a sweep of gold to create flow within the piece
- a bright color (in this case gold) - Gold is meant to represent:
-For the gold, I want to use gold leaf to create a difference in the texture of the piece. |

Similarities- Two figures morphed together
- One figure is looking off to the right while the other is looking to the other side. |
Differences- Was done in color
- The figure on the right is looking straight ahead - The figures are not placed within the dead center , they are set off to the left side of the piece |
